Code 10-2-11 on Sub-Zero Designer models like the DET3050CI tall unit and the DEC3050R column reports that the zone 2 evaporator thermistor is shorted. That sensor sits on the zone 2 coil and tells the control when frost has built up enough to start defrost and when the coil is warm enough to stop. A shorted reading gives the control false information, so defrost may happen at the wrong times. You may notice frost on the back wall or a zone that does not hold its setting.
1) Note the code and look for frost on the zone 2 rear panel. 2) Avoid placing warm food in that zone for now. 3) Keep the door closed. 4) Cycle the breaker off and on one time. 5) Book service so the sensor can be tested.
Both concern the zone 2 evaporator thermistor on Designer units. Code 10-2-10 means it reads open, while 10-2-11 means it reads shorted. The tests and repair are similar.
With a false coil reading, the control may skip or cut short a defrost cycle. Frost then thickens on the coil and slowly restricts airflow into the zone.
We confirm the short, then replace the sensor or fix the wiring. Our workmanship is covered for 30 days, and you approve the written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
