Sub-Zero IC-36FI 36-inch column freezer with ice maker repair
The IC-36FI is the widest of the Designer freezer columns, at 36 inches with an ice maker and a panel-ready front. It is often the centerpiece of a built-in wall, and the size means a large door that is sensitive to anything off by a few millimeters.
When the seal stops closing fully, warm moist air gets in, and the result is heavy frost on shelves and the back wall. Before replacing anything we look at the gasket, the door swing, the cabinet level and how the panel hangs. Then we move to the defrost heater and the fan.
If the ice maker is the complaint, we check the inlet valve, water pressure and mold cycle separately from the freezer. Parts for this discontinued generation can still be ordered from OEM supply but arrive more slowly. Pricing is always written first, and our work comes with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Humid air entering through a poor seal is the most common cause. A defrost cycle that stops short can add to it. We inspect the gasket and door fit, then the defrost parts, and quote before repairing.
Yes. A wide door with a custom panel puts real load on the hinges, and a small sag opens a gap along the gasket. We realign the door and check contact all around before any parts are ordered.
No, not on its own. Cloudy cubes usually point to water supply or filtration. We test the inlet and filter first, and we check freezer temperature to confirm the cabinet itself is fine.
