Sub-Zero IT-30FI over-and-under freezer repair, 30-inch
The IT-30FI has an over-and-under layout, 30 inches wide, with an ice maker and panel-ready fronts. It is typically built into a wall or an island run where the lower section sits at a convenient height and the grille is hidden behind a kickplate, so dust gathers there without anyone noticing.
A restricted grille is the first thing we examine, as it raises head pressure and makes the freezer work longer than it should. Next come the seals on both sections, because two fronts mean two gaskets that can wear separately. We also test the ice maker on its own.
This generation is discontinued, and OEM parts can still be ordered, though they come in more slowly than parts for a current model. A written price comes first, followed by our 30-day workmanship warranty on the work.
Air is drawn through the grille at the bottom front, behind the kickplate area. We remove the trim, vacuum the coil and check that air flows freely. It is a short job that often fixes long run times.
Check for something resting against the track or a gasket folded under the edge. If it still gaps, we examine alignment of the panel and slides, because that is a common cause on integrated units.
Often yes. We test the inlet valve, mold heater and shutoff arm in place. We tell you before we start whether anything requires pulling the freezer out, and put the price in writing.
