10/R/01 is a sensor-related warning on Classic built-ins. Here is what that sensor does, the one reset worth trying and why the fix belongs to a technician.
On Sub-Zero Classic built-ins, 10/R/01 belongs to the group of warnings about the temperature sensors that watch the refrigerator side. We confirm the exact reading with a meter at the visit, but the code is a strong hint that the control is not getting a believable signal from a sensor near the evaporator.
A thermistor is a small sensor whose resistance changes with temperature. The one near the evaporator coil reports how cold the coil is. The control uses that information to decide when the compressor and fans should run and when defrost should begin. If the reading makes no sense, the control cannot manage cooling properly.
Switch the unit off at the home breaker, wait about 30 seconds and switch it back on. Occasionally a brief glitch clears this way. If the code returns right away or within a day or two, more resets will not help; the sensor or its wiring needs testing.
The sensor sits behind interior panels close to the evaporator and refrigerant tubing. Loosening the wrong thing back there can create a much larger repair. Placement also matters: a new sensor clipped in the wrong spot will keep sending misleading readings, and the warning may come back. Wiring and connectors need checking too, because a damaged lead can look exactly like a failed sensor.
When testing confirms the sensor has failed, replacement is generally one of the more routine Sub-Zero repairs, with no sealed system work involved. You get a written price before we begin, and the repair is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
