If a Classic BI unit like the BI-36U/S shows 30-U-20, the third device in the water systems group, the water check valve, has an open circuit. The control expects this valve to respond when it manages water flow and finds no continuity. Depending on the setup, ice making or door water may stop, and the unit may log water-related codes repeatedly while temperatures stay normal.
1. Confirm the household water supply is on. 2. Inspect the supply line behind the unit for kinks if you can see it without moving the unit. 3. Note whether ice, water, or both have stopped. 4. Leave the unit running and book service.
It is part of the BI water system that keeps water moving in the right direction. 30-U-20 means the control found its electrical circuit open, so it cannot operate the valve as intended.
The code itself is electrical, but check the floor in front of the unit anyway. If you see water, close the household shutoff and call us so we can look at the plumbing too.
We test the check valve and its harness, then replace only what fails the test. You approve a written price first, and our 30-day workmanship warranty covers the work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
