Sub-Zero DEC1850FI 18-inch Designer column freezer service
The DEC1850FI is an 18-inch wide, 84-inch high Designer column with 8.8 cu ft of upright freezer space and an ice maker behind a panel-ready door. It suits a narrow slot beside a refrigerator column, and is still in current production. Sold under the ICBDEC1850FI name as well, which is an ICB-prefixed version of this unit.
Even a current unit this tall depends on clean airflow and a tight seal. If it runs without stopping, we check the condenser first, then fan operation and gasket contact. Heavy frost points us toward the door fit and the defrost circuit.
We test the ice maker separately, from the inlet valve through to harvest. Parts and service documentation for a current model are easier to obtain than for the older series. We state the price in writing before starting, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers our work.
It likely cannot reach setpoint. A dusty condenser, slow fan, weak seal or frosted coil are the usual reasons. We check them in order and give you a written quote before any repair.
It is listed as an 18-inch wide, 84-inch high upright freezer with 8.8 cu ft. That is a narrow column, so airflow and shelf loading matter. Overpacking can also hinder circulation.
Not always. Many checks are done through the front of the cabinet. If the panel must come off, we protect the finish and cabinetry, and we say so in the estimate.
