Sub-Zero DEC3650FI 36-inch Designer column freezer repair
At 36 inches, the DEC3650FI is the widest Designer column freezer in the line, with an ice maker and a panel-ready door. It often anchors a full-height built-in wall, with a refrigerator column at its side, and is still in current production.
In a tight cabinet run the grille gets covered by trim and collects lint, which makes the compressor run hotter and longer. That is our first stop. If we find water below the bottom basket, we look for ice over the drain, and then work backward to see why the defrost cycle let it form.
Ice-maker complaints are handled on their own track: supply line, valve and mold cycle. Parts and service documentation are more readily available for a current model than for older series. A written price always comes first, and we back our work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
It depends on the kitchen, but once a year is a sensible start, more with pets. A clean grille keeps head pressure down. We can do it during any visit and show you the coil before and after.
Ice has likely formed over the drain, so meltwater is trapped. We clear it and check what allowed ice to form, usually a defrost or drain-path issue, then give you a written estimate.
Not always. Low ice output often comes from the inlet valve, water pressure or the mold heater. We measure the freezer temperature first, then trace the water side if the cabinet is cold.
