Sub-Zero IC-27FI Column Freezer Repair
The IC-27FI is a discontinued 27″ column freezer, 80″ high, that produced ice and stored frozen food. It was made from 2010 to 2013 and is typically installed as part of a column pair beside a matching refrigerator column, behind panels or stainless doors.
Dual Refrigeration gives the freezer its own sealed system, so it does not borrow cold from a neighbor. That makes its behavior easy to read: frost points to the gasket or a defrost problem, while weak ice output suggests the water path or a cold spot at the ice maker. Keypad controls can also misbehave after a power loss. We check the gasket and the freezer temperature first, then the defrost behavior and fans, then the ice maker and its water line. Because the model is discontinued, parts can take longer, and we explain that up front. Written price first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Moist air entering past a worn gasket is the usual cause, and a defrost cycle that is not clearing can add to it. We check the seal and defrost behavior, then remove the frost.
We check power and the keypad connection, then test whether the controls recover after a reset. Cooling work comes later if the unit still holds temperature normally.
It was designed as a column freezer for pairing, but we focus on repairs, not design. For service, we check the freezer on its own sealed system and test it independently.
