On the legacy Sub-Zero PRO 48 models, the 648PRO and 648PROG, code 01 flags a cabinet thermistor issue in a specific zone, either the sensor itself or its wiring. The display shows it as 01 X 00 for an open circuit, 01 X 01 for a short, or 01 X 02 when the reading jumped more than 12°F within 30 seconds. X identifies the zone: 1, 3 or 4. The zone may run too cold or too warm because the control cannot read its true temperature. Older 600 and 700 units use different numbers for sensors.
1) Write down the full code, including the zone number in the middle. 2) Compare the displayed temperature with a thermometer in that zone. 3) Keep doors closed to protect food. 4) Turn the unit off at the breaker for a minute, then back on, and see if the code repeats. 5) Call us with the zone number.
It is the zone. On the 648PRO, 1, 3 or 4 tells us which cabinet sensor is involved, so we know where to look before we arrive.
It is a sensor problem, not a cooling system failure. The zone can drift too warm or too cold, so it should be fixed soon to protect food.
We test the thermistor and wiring for the named zone, then replace the sensor or repair the connection. The price is written down before we begin and the work is covered for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
