Code 43 appears on legacy PRO 48 models, the Sub-Zero 648PRO and 648PROG, and directs service to the left refrigerant valve and its wiring. This valve is part of the sealed system and controls refrigerant flow to a section of the unit. If it does not switch correctly, one side may stop cooling while the other overcools, or temperatures may swing. The display shows the code, and cabinet temperatures are often the first thing owners notice changing.
1) Record the code and which zone feels warm or too cold. 2) Keep doors closed to hold temperature. 3) Move perishables if one zone climbs above safe levels. 4) Restart the unit once at the breaker. 5) Book a sealed system visit.
It directs refrigerant flow within the 648PRO's sealed system, sending cooling where the control asks for it. Code 43 means the control sees a problem with that valve or its wiring.
It depends on whether the wiring or the valve itself is the issue. Wiring repairs are simpler. Valve replacement involves sealed system work, and we price it in writing first.
If the valve sticks in one position, refrigerant may not reach that section properly. Temperatures in one zone then drift upward while another section may get colder than its setting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
