Designer units in the DET/DEC line, the DET3050CI and DEC3050R among them, can show 10-0-00 for two documented reasons. Either a replacement control board went in but was never programmed for the model, or the unit is set up for the DEFL configuration and one of its thermistors reads open, meaning the board sees no signal at all. The display holds 10 0 00, and temperature control in the affected area becomes unreliable until it is sorted out.
1. Think back: was the control board replaced recently? Tell us when you book. 2. Write down the exact code and the model number from the rating plate. 3. Keep the doors closed to hold the cold. 4. Turn the breaker off for one minute and back on, once only. 5. Move sensitive food to a cooler if the code returns.
This exact code is used when a new board was installed without being programmed for the model. The fix is programming, not another part. We load the correct model setup and confirm temperatures before we leave.
It is one of the setups a Designer board can be programmed for. On units set that way, 10-0-00 also means an open thermistor. We read the configuration first so we know which of the two meanings applies to your unit.
Often for a while, but the board cannot trust its readings. Keep the doors shut, check food with a thermometer, and move milk and meat to a cooler if the space starts to warm up.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
