On Classic Built-In refrigerators with electronic control, the BI-36U/S among them, 15-8-00 means the ice maker relay is stuck open. The board tries to power the ice maker, but the relay never passes current, so the ice maker gets no signal to run. Cooling in both sections goes on as normal. What you notice is the ice bin slowly running empty while the rest of the refrigerator works fine.
1. Make sure the ice maker switch or arm is in the on position. 2. Check that the ice bin is seated correctly. 3. Reset the breaker once. 4. Wait several hours to see whether ice production restarts, and note whether 15-8-00 comes back on the display.
With 15-8-00 the relay that feeds the ice maker is stuck open. Cooling uses other relays on the board, so it keeps running. Only ice production stops, and the bin slowly empties.
Not for this code. The ice maker is not receiving power from the board. A new ice maker would sit idle the same way. We test the relay and the plug first.
After the repair the ice maker usually starts a cycle within a few hours, and a full bin takes about a day. You get a written price before we start.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
