On Sub-Zero Classic BI dispenser models, including the BI-36U/S and BI-36UFD/S, the 30-9-86 listing reads dispenser flow too slow. The detail behind it is that the chute motor timed out: the control told the chute door to move and it did not finish in the allowed time. You may notice the chute flap staying open, ice dribbling slowly, frost in the chute, or a grinding sound.
1. Look into the chute and gently clear frost or ice with a plastic utensil. 2. Dry the area around the chute flap. 3. Make sure the freezer door seals fully, since warm air causes chute frost. 4. Lock the dispenser keypad if the flap keeps cycling.
Often it is. Frost or a sliver of ice can hold the chute door, so the motor runs out of time before the door finishes moving. Clearing it gently with a plastic utensil may solve the problem.
Moist kitchen air entering through the chute, or a freezer gasket that does not seal, can leave frost on the flap. A door left slightly ajar after loading groceries makes it worse.
Then the chute motor or its linkage needs attention inside the door. We price the work in writing first, and our 30-day workmanship warranty applies to the repair.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
