Code 22 has two readings. On legacy 600 Series units like the 650/F and 700 Series models such as the 736TCI, it means the control saw no voltage feedback through the gray/white wire when defrost started, which points to the defrost wiring. On the legacy PRO 48 648PRO and 648PROG, code 22 calls for checking the defrost wiring of zone X, where X is 1, 3 or 4. Either way, frost can build on the coil.
1. Note code 22 and, on a 648PRO, which zone is shown. 2. Look for heavy frost on the back wall of the affected section. 3. Switch the breaker off, wait two minutes, then switch it back on. 4. Keep doors closed. 5. Call us if the code returns or frost spreads.
On the legacy 648PRO and 648PROG, it calls for checking the defrost wiring of the zone shown, which can be zone 1, 3 or 4. The 600 and 700 Series point specifically to the gray/white feedback wire.
If the control cannot confirm defrost voltage, the coil may not get cleared. Frost then thickens and starts blocking airflow, so the section slowly warms.
We test the defrost wiring and feedback under power, repair the break we find and then give a written price for any parts. Our labor has a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
