Legacy Sub-Zero UC-24 undercounter units, including the UC-24R, UC-24BG and UC-24CI, set code 05 when the refrigerator cabinet thermistor reads open, stays shorted for 10 seconds or more, or reports temperatures that do not make sense. That sensor is how the control knows the cabinet temperature, so cooling can run too long or not enough. Full-size 600 and 700 Series units reuse the same two-digit numbers for their own list, so this reading applies to the UC-24 only. You may see warm drinks or frozen produce.
1. Note whether the cabinet feels warmer or colder than usual. 2. Make sure the door closes and the gasket seals all the way around. 3. Clear anything pressed against the rear wall where the sensor lives. 4. Switch power off at the breaker for one minute and restore it. 5. If 05 returns, keep the door closed and call us.
Not necessarily. Full-size 600 and 700 Series units use their own list. On the UC-24, code 05 is the refrigerator cabinet thermistor, so read it against the undercounter chart.
With an unreliable cabinet reading, the control may keep cooling because it thinks the cabinet is warm. A frozen can is a common clue that the sensor or its wire is giving a false reading.
We test the sensor, wiring and board input first, then give you a written price before any work. Most sensor repairs are finished in one visit and carry our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
