Sub-Zero 315IP ice maker with drain pump service
The 315IP is the pump version of the 315I, and the pump lets it drain into a nearby sink when no floor drain exists. Sub-Zero writes the name 315I(P). That makes it a favorite in basements and wet bars where gravity drainage is not possible. It is a discontinued 200/300 Series unit.
A pump adds one more part to wear out, so slow draining joins the usual ice complaints. Cloudy cubes, an empty bin despite harvest cycles, and a unit that never finishes freezing are what we see most.
We start by checking the drain pump and line, then the water supply and the evaporator. Pricing is written before any work starts, and we back repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The harvest is running, but ice is not forming or is melting before it drops. Water flow, the freeze cycle and the drain pump are the first places we look, in that order.
It lifts meltwater up to a sink drain, so no floor drain is required. If the pump fails, water can back up in the bin, and we test the pump and line together.
It may be stuck in a freeze cycle because of poor airflow or water supply problems. We test both before suggesting anything bigger, and the price is always written before we start work.
