When a Classic Built-In model like the BI-36UFD/S, or a Designer unit such as the DET3050CI, flashes 10-1-02, the first cooling area has an unstable sensor. Classic BI names it the refrigerator cabinet thermistor, while Designer calls it the Zone 1 cabinet thermistor. Unstable means the reading jumps instead of tracking temperature smoothly. You may see the code appear and clear, and the refrigerator section can feel colder one day and warmer the next.
1. Write down when 10-1-02 appears and how long it stays. 2. Keep containers away from the rear wall so air moves freely. 3. Close the door firmly and run a finger around the seal for gaps. 4. Try one breaker reset. 5. Watch a thermometer for swings.
The board acts on the numbers it receives. When the cabinet sensor jumps around, cooling starts and stops at the wrong moments, so the space runs colder or warmer than you set.
Only the naming. Designer uses Zone 1 for the area that the Classic BI simply calls the refrigerator cabinet. Either way the sensor reading is unstable.
It may disappear for a while, which is typical of an intermittent connection. That does not mean it is fixed. We find the weak point, quote a written price, and stand behind the work for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
