On Sub-Zero Designer units such as the DET3050CI tall refrigerator and DEC3050R column, 10-2-01 means the zone 2 temperature sensor is reading as shorted. On older Classic BI models like the BI-36U/S and BI-48SD/S the same code names the freezer sensor instead. Either way, the control receives an impossible reading and can no longer judge the temperature in that section. You may see the code on the display while that compartment runs colder or warmer than its setting.
1) Write down the full code exactly as shown. 2) Place a thermometer in the affected compartment to see the real temperature. 3) Keep the door closed as much as possible. 4) Switch the unit off at the breaker for a minute and back on. 5) If 10-2-01 returns, schedule a visit and move sensitive items if needed.
Almost. On Designer units it is the zone 2 sensor shorted. On a Classic BI the same code refers to the freezer sensor shorted. In both cases the repair focuses on that sensor and its wiring.
For a short time, usually. The control may run that zone on a fallback routine, so temperatures can wander. Check with a thermometer and book service soon.
We measure the sensor and its wiring, then replace the thermistor or repair the lead. The price is set in writing before work, and our labor carries a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
