On Designer models such as the DET3050CI tall refrigerator and the DEC3050R column, 10-3-01 tells us the zone 3 sensor is shorted. Classic BI owners with a BI-36U/S or BI-48SD/S will see the same digits, but there it means the condenser sensor is shorted. A shorted thermistor sends a reading far outside the normal range, so the control discards it. On Designer units zone 3 may drift off its setting; on a Classic BI the unit loses its view of condenser temperature and may run less efficiently.
1) Confirm which platform you own from the model tag inside the door. 2) On a Designer unit, check zone 3 with a thermometer twice a day. 3) On a Classic BI, keep the top grille clear of clutter. 4) Turn power off at the breaker for a minute and restore it. 5) Arrange service if 10-3-01 remains.
Check the model tag. Designer models such as the DET3050CI or DEC3050R read 10-3-01 as the zone 3 sensor shorted. Classic BI models read it as the condenser sensor shorted.
Usually yes for a short period. Watch temperatures with a thermometer, keep doors closed, and book a visit before small swings turn into spoiled food.
We locate the right sensor for your platform, measure it and its wiring, and replace or repair what failed. A written price comes first, and we back our labor for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
