Four Sub-Zero platforms use 15-4-00: the Classic Built-In (BI-36U/S, for one), the current Classic CL such as the CL3650U, current Designer like the DET3050CI, and Legacy Designer integrated models, where it is listed as the Zone 4 relay. Everywhere it means the defrost relay is stuck open. The board calls for defrost, but power never reaches the defrost heater, so ice keeps building on the coil. Over days, airflow drops and the cabinets warm.
1. Look at the rear panel of the freezer or affected zone for heavy frost. 2. Keep doors closed to slow ice growth. 3. Try one breaker reset. 4. Move food to a cooler if temperatures rise. 5. Do not chip ice from the coil cover.
Defrost never gets power, so frost keeps building on the coil. After a few days airflow is blocked and the freezer or zone stops holding temperature.
On the older integrated Designer models the defrost relay is numbered as Zone 4. The meaning is the same as on the BI, CL and current Designer: the relay is stuck open.
Often, yes. We confirm the relay is the cause, melt the frost safely, and repair or replace the board after you approve a written price. Labor is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
