Classic Built-In units like the BI-36U/S and Designer models such as the DEC3050R display 15-U-01. On the Classic BI it means the water system relay is stuck closed. Designer reports a shorted water systems relay, with current detected at the water valve when there should be none. In both cases the valve may stay energized, which can overfill the ice maker, cause dripping at the dispenser, or leave water where it should not be.
1. Shut off the water supply valve to the refrigerator. 2. Wipe up any water inside or on the floor. 3. Switch the ice maker off. 4. Reset the breaker once; if 15-U-01 returns, leave the water off and call us.
The relay or valve circuit stays energized, so the valve can keep letting water through. Shutting off the supply valve stops it until we repair the board side.
Slightly. Classic BI says the relay is stuck closed. Designer says the relay is shorted and current is detected at the valve. Both keep the valve powered when it should rest.
Soon, especially if there is water on the floor. Keep the supply off in the meantime. We give a written price before work and stand behind our labor for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
