On Sub-Zero Classic BI models with a dispenser, such as the BI-36UFD/S, 30-9-01 reports that the ice dispenser switch is closed when it should not be. The research lists it as the bulk ice switch stuck closed. In practice the control thinks someone is pressing for ice all the time, so the dispenser may run on its own, jam, refuse to respond, or show the code each time the door is opened.
1. Check that the dispenser paddle moves freely and springs back. 2. Clear any ice or sticky residue around the paddle with a soft cloth. 3. Use the keypad lock on the dispenser if it keeps running by itself. 4. Keep the ice bin seated and avoid forcing the paddle.
With 30-9-01, the control reads the bulk ice switch as closed even when no one is pressing. It reacts as if ice is being requested.
Sometimes. If dried drink residue or ice holds the paddle in, cleaning can free it. If the code returns, the switch itself is stuck and must be replaced.
The switch is usually replaced in one visit if the part is available. We give you a written price first, and our 30-day workmanship warranty covers the job.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
