What 30-9-10 means

Classic built-in units such as the BI-36U/S with an ice dispenser use 30-9-10 when the second device in the dispenser group is open. The listing names the dispenser auger. When you press for ice, the control tries to run the auger that pushes ice forward, but the circuit has no continuity, so nothing turns. You may hear a click and no motor sound, or get no ice while the bin is full.

Common causes of 30-9-10

  • Auger motor circuit open
  • Auger connector loose at the bin or freezer wall
  • Broken wire in the dispenser harness
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Remove the ice bin and break up any large clumps, then reseat it firmly. 2. Make sure the bin's drive coupling lines up with the motor at the back. 3. Try dispensing once more. 4. If nothing turns, stop pressing and schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • The auger motor sits behind the freezer back wall.
  • Wiring must be checked through the door hinge harness.
  • Replacing the motor requires matching the correct drive coupling.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

30-9-1030-9-10 questions
Could a clump of ice cause 30-9-10?

A jam usually stalls the auger instead of opening its circuit. This code says the control found the electrical path open, so the auger motor or its wiring is the likely source, not the ice itself.

Can I still get ice?

Yes. Pull the bin out and scoop ice straight from it. The ice maker keeps filling the bin as long as its own circuit and water supply are fine, so only the door delivery stops.

What do you check first?

We test the auger motor and connectors, then follow the harness to the board. A written price comes before work, and the repair includes our 30-day workmanship warranty.
