What 35-1-33 means

Code 35-1-33 is shared by current Designer models such as the DET3050CI, the current Classic CL series including the CL3650U and CL4850SD, and PRO 36 and PRO 48 units built from 2013 on. On each it means the Zone 1 evaporator fan is turning too slowly; Designer phrases it as the speed setting being too low. Less airflow reaches Zone 1, so it may cool unevenly, take longer to recover after door openings, or grow frost on the coil.

Common causes of 35-1-33

  • Ice building around the Zone 1 fan blade
  • Something touching or slowing the fan blade
  • A Zone 1 evaporator fan motor that is wearing out
  • A control output that is not driving the fan correctly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Keep packages away from the rear vents in Zone 1. 2. Listen for scraping or ticking near the back wall and tell us if you hear it. 3. Make sure the door seals, since warm moist air speeds frost. 4. Reset the breaker once. 5. Track Zone 1 with a thermometer.

! Why to stop there
  • The fan sits behind the evaporator cover inside the cabinet
  • Frost around the blade must be melted without damaging the coil
  • A worn motor has to be matched to your model and platform
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

35-1-3335-1-33 questions
My CL3650U shows 35-1-33. Is it the same as on Designer?

Yes. Classic CL, Designer and 2013-and-later PRO all use 35-1-33 for a slow Zone 1 evaporator fan. Designer simply words it as the speed setting being too low.

Could frost slow the fan?

It can. Ice around the blade adds drag and makes the fan turn slower than the board expects. We clear the frost and also check why it formed.

What does the fix cost?

It depends on whether the fan is iced, blocked or worn. We diagnose first and give you a written price. Our labor carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
