On current Designer units such as the DET3050CI and DEC3050R, 40-B-00 is listed as baffle open. The baffle is a motorized air door that the control uses to send cold air where it is needed. An open circuit means the control tried to drive it and found no continuous electrical path. Without the baffle moving, one area can run warm or too cold, and temperatures may stop matching the settings.
1. Measure the temperature in each zone with a thermometer. 2. Restart the unit at the breaker for one minute. 3. Keep vents inside the cabinet clear of food and packaging. 4. If the code returns, keep doors closed and book a visit.
The baffle controls where cold air goes. If it stays in one position, one area may get too much cold air and another too little. 40-B-00 tells us the baffle circuit is open.
It may clear the display briefly, but an open circuit will not fix itself. If the code returns, the baffle or its wiring needs repair.
We trace the circuit, replace the baffle or wiring as needed, and confirm temperatures. You receive a written price first, and our 30-day workmanship warranty applies.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
