On Classic BI models such as the BI-36U/S and BI-36UFD/S, 44-0-00 means the control found an open circuit at the glass door heater connector. Glass door units use a low-power heater around the glass to stop condensation. A common twist: solid-door units can show this code when the control was set up as a glass door model, often after a board swap, so it looks for a heater that is not there. Cooling continues normally; a glass door may fog.
1. Look for fog or droplets on the glass door, if your unit has one. 2. Think back to any recent board replacement and mention it when you call. 3. Wipe condensation from the door and frame so it does not drip on the floor. 4. Keep using the unit normally while you wait for service.
After a control board replacement, the board may be set as a glass door model. It then looks for a glass door heater that does not exist and reports an open circuit. Correcting the setup usually clears it.
Usually not. The refrigerator keeps cooling as normal. On a glass door unit, fogging may increase in humid Houston weather, so schedule a visit when convenient and wipe the glass in the meantime.
We check the setup first, then the heater connector and wiring. You receive a written price before any work, and our 30-day workmanship warranty covers it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
