Classic BI dispenser models like the BI-36UFD/S include small heaters in the glasswell, the recess where you hold a glass. Code 44-9-42 reports a primary heater problem: the 1-watt glasswell heater was not detected. Without that warmth, condensation can form and freeze around the dispenser area. You may see frost, water droplets or ice build-up in the glasswell, especially in humid weather.
1. Wipe moisture and frost from the glasswell with a soft towel. 2. Do not chip ice from the dispenser area with sharp tools. 3. Keep the freezer door fully closed to limit humid air near the dispenser. 4. Note how quickly frost returns and tell us when you call.
It is the recessed area of the dispenser where you place a glass. Small heaters keep it from frosting over, and 44-9-42 means the 1-watt primary heater is not detected.
Not directly. Ice and water still dispense, but frost and drips around the dispenser can become annoying, can freeze the paddle area, and can stain the panel finish over time.
We test the heater and its connector, then replace whatever is open. You get a written price before any work, and our 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
