On the Sub-Zero 648PRO and 648PROG, the legacy PRO 48 glass-door models, code 44 concerns the glass door heater in zone X and its wiring. That low-wattage heater keeps the glass and its frame from fogging or sweating when warm, humid kitchen air meets a cold surface. If the circuit has a problem, condensation may form on the glass or the frame. Cooling usually continues normally, and the display shows the code with the zone number.
1) Note which door is fogging and the zone number. 2) Wipe moisture from the glass and frame. 3) Lower room humidity if possible. 4) Avoid propping the door open. 5) Schedule service so we can test the heater circuit.
Code 44 means the glass door heater circuit for that zone has a problem. Without the gentle heat, warm kitchen air condenses on the cold glass and frame.
Usually not. The zone keeps cooling, but moisture on the door can drip onto gaskets and flooring, so leaving it for months is not a good idea.
We test the heater and the hinge wiring, then repair or replace whichever part failed. You get a written price, and our labor carries a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
