When a current Designer column like the DET3050CI or a Classic BI built-in such as the BI-36U/S shows 45-2-01, the lighting in Zone 2 (the freezer on BI units) has shorted. The control detected excess current and switched those lights off to protect itself. The freezer section stays dark, and you might have noticed flickering before it went out. Cooling continues as normal.
1. Dry frost or water around the freezer lights with a soft cloth. 2. Keep the freezer door closed to limit moisture. 3. If there is any burning smell, switch off the breaker and call us. 4. Use the freezer normally while you wait for service.
45-2-00 is an open circuit, meaning no path for current. 45-2-01 is a short, meaning too much current, so the control turns the lights off for safety.
Moisture that works its way inside a light connector can cause a short. Keeping the door closed and drying the area helps prevent it, but a light that has already shorted still needs replacing.
We find the short, replace the light or wiring, and confirm the circuit works. You approve a written price first, with our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
