On legacy Sub-Zero 700 Series and 736 integrated units such as the 700TCI, 736TCI and 700TFI, code 40 signals excessive freezer compressor run. The same meaning applies on IC-27 integrated columns. The control has timed the freezer compressor and found it running much longer than the cooling load should require. Expect the Service indicator, possibly warmer freezer temperatures, and frost on stored food. In a combination unit the refrigerator drawer or section may still hold temperature.
1) Push each freezer drawer closed and check for items blocking the track. 2) Inspect the kickplate area for blockages and vacuum the visible grille. 3) Leave the freezer closed for several hours. 4) Watch the display to see if the temperature drops. 5) Contact us if the code remains.
Yes. On both the 700 and 736 integrated models, and on IC-27 columns, code 40 means the freezer compressor has run for much longer than the cooling load should require.
Absolutely. A freezer drawer that stays slightly open lets warm, humid air in, and the compressor keeps running to catch up. Check the drawer tracks and gasket first.
Within a day or two if temperatures are climbing. We find whether the cause is airflow, the seal or the sealed system, then quote in writing before starting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
