Both current Designer models like the DET3050CI and DEC3050R and Classic BI units such as the BI-36U/S use 90-5-80 for control system no communication. The boards inside the unit stopped exchanging data with the main control, so it can no longer read inputs or send commands to every part of the system. Depending on which link dropped, the display may freeze or go blank, buttons may stop responding, and cooling can fall back to basic behavior or stop altogether.
1. Switch the breaker off for one full minute, then back on so every board restarts together. 2. Note what the display does after power returns and whether the code reappears. 3. Place thermometers in each section and check them over the next few hours. 4. If cooling stops, move perishables to a cooler and call us right away.
Each board handles part of the job, such as the display, cooling or water. When 90-5-80 appears, the main control has lost contact with at least one of them, so settings may be ignored and some functions stop.
A restart sometimes restores the link if the boards simply lost sync. If a cable or board is damaged, the code returns, often within minutes or hours, and we need to test the system.
Not always. We check cables and connectors first, since they are the simplest fix. You approve a written price before any board is ordered, and the work carries our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
