On legacy Sub-Zero 600 Series units like the 650/F, 685 and 690, and on 700 Series, 736 and IC-27 models such as the 736TCI and 700TCI, EC 30 means the ice maker water valve solenoid was activated too much. The control stopped the ice maker to prevent overfilling. A cube jammed in the ice maker is a frequent cause. You may notice the ice bin empty and the ice maker idle, while the freezer still cools normally.
1) Switch the ice maker off. 2) Lift out the ice bin and clear any cubes jammed in the mold or ejector arm. 3) Make sure the water supply valve feeding the unit is fully open. 4) Replace the water filter if it is overdue. 5) Turn the ice maker back on and call us if EC 30 returns.
The ice maker water valve solenoid was activated more than the control allows, so it shut the ice maker off to prevent overfilling. Very often a single stuck cube is behind it.
Yes. On 600 Series, 700 Series, 736 and IC-27 units, EC 30 and code 30 describe the same water valve over-activation, and the checks are identical.
We clear any jam, test the valve and the water supply, and replace parts only where tests show a problem. You get a written price before work begins.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
