On IW-30 and IW-18 units from the Designer Wine (IW) line, 10 C 01 means the condenser thermistor is shorted. The sensor in the condenser area reads a resistance so low that no real temperature could explain it. The control drops the reading and runs condenser management on defaults. Owners may not notice much at first, though the unit may run louder or longer when the kitchen is warm.
1. Brush lint from the grille. 2. Keep the area in front of the grille open. 3. Note whether the unit sounds louder than usual. 4. Power-cycle once at the breaker. 5. Book a visit if 10 C 01 comes back.
With the condenser reading lost, the control may run the condenser fan on a default speed. That can sound louder than the quiet, adjusted speed you are used to.
Dust alone does not short a sensor, but dirt and moisture in the plug can. Keeping the grille clean helps the system either way. Brush it every few months.
We trace the lead, check the plug and test the thermistor, then give a written price. Repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty. We also clean the condenser while there.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
