Sub-Zero 249R manual-defrost undercounter repair
The 249R is a 200 Series undercounter refrigerator and freezer with manual defrost, two cube trays in the freezer compartment and removable wire shelves. It generally lives under a counter or inside a bar, with a one-piece interior that is easy to wipe down.
With manual defrost, frost buildup is expected over time, but too much of it makes the unit labor. We examine the seal first, since a gasket that no longer meets the cabinet lets in humid air. Then we check the condenser area for dust, the fan, and whether the unit is simply running longer because it cannot shed heat.
OEM parts can generally still be ordered for the 249R, though as a discontinued model its parts arrive more slowly. We give a written price before starting and stand behind the work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Poor condenser airflow, a weak seal or heavy frost in the freezer section will keep it going. We clean the grille area, test the gasket and check frost levels, then quote in writing.
Whenever frost becomes thick enough to affect shelves or the door seal. Heavy frost makes the unit work harder. If it returns quickly, we check the gasket and door closure rather than just thawing it.
They are related 200 Series undercounter models. The 249RP listed separately is an all-refrigerator, so parts differ. We check the data plate before ordering anything.
