Sub-Zero 601RG Glass-Door Refrigerator Repair
Where the 601R shows a solid door, the 601RG lets you see in through three panes of glass that resist UV light and save energy. Under the same 600 Series skin it is a built-in all-refrigerator with an electronic control panel that lights up, and its interior lamps can stay lit whether or not the door is open. It is no longer produced.
Glass changes what we look for. Fogging on the inner side of the door usually means the seal or the pane’s insulating ability has weakened with age, so we inspect the gasket first and then the glass assembly. Puddles beneath the crisper drawers get traced back to the source rather than just wiped up.
We also test the overnight-versus-daytime behavior, because a cabinet that holds cold at night and slips during the day tells us about seals and airflow. Parts can generally still be ordered, though legacy items take longer than current ones.
A little can appear. If it lingers on the inner glass, the door seal or the pane has probably lost some of its insulating ability, and we inspect both before suggesting a repair.
The 601RG swaps the solid door for triple-pane glass, and its interior lighting can stay lit independent of the door. Beyond that, both share one all-refrigerator platform.
Look to a drain or seal as the likely source, not a spilled drink. We trace the path of the water, since leaving it can lead to more moisture problems inside the cabinet.
