Sub-Zero 685 Dispenser Side-by-Side Repair
Framed, partial-framed, and overlay are the three door styles published for the 685, a 600 Series built-in side-by-side that includes an ice and water dispenser in the door. It is no longer produced.
For the cabinet, we separate two patterns. If it takes forever to cool back down after the door has stood open, we suspect airflow or seal wear. If it holds overnight and slips through the day, we look at the same things but pay more attention to how the load changes with kitchen heat. Both are measured, not guessed.
The dispenser gets its own diagnosis. A dry or slow dispenser traces to the fill valve or water line far more often than to refrigeration, so we begin at the water. If the job is worth doing, you will see the price in writing first, and our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty. Parts can generally be ordered, but legacy items take longer.
Probably not. Slow or missing water usually comes from the fill valve or the supply line, so we test those first and leave the refrigeration circuit alone until they check out.
The framed, partial-framed, and overlay styles affect the outside appearance, while the cooling and dispenser work is much the same. We take care with the door panel whichever style you have.
Some delay is expected, but consistently slow recovery is worth checking. We look at condenser airflow and door seals, then measure the temperature curve. We measure how long the temperature takes to return to normal.
