We service Sub-Zero refrigerators, freezers, wine storage and ice makers on both banks of Dickinson Bayou. Book by phone or online, and most visits are set for the next day.
Local housing, power events, water conditions, and installation styles all affect how we approach Sub-Zero diagnostics here.
Dickinson lies about 28 miles southeast of Houston and 19 miles from Galveston, yet it only incorporated in 1977. The 2020 census found 20,847 people in 8,249 housing units, from older one-story homes near the water to houses rebuilt after 2017.
Rebuilt kitchens often received new refrigeration all at once, so several units in one house tend to age together. When we come for one Sub-Zero, we look over the gaskets and water lines on the others too.
Galveston County WCID No. 1 was set up in 1938 and serves most of greater Dickinson. It moved off wells to surface water in 1983 and now buys treated Brazos River water from the Mackey plant in Texas City.
Treated surface water is gentle on a Sub-Zero ice maker, so slow ice usually comes from a filter left in too long or a valve that has aged. We check the filter date and the fill rate before ordering a part.
About 90 percent of the city flooded during Harvey, and roughly half of it was destroyed. Some owners dried out appliances that had stood in the water rather than replacing them.
Silt and moisture left in a refrigerator base keep corroding wiring and control board contacts long after the flood. If a Sub-Zero starts drifting in temperature or resetting itself, we open the lower compartment and inspect those connections first.
Owners who rebuilt often bought every kitchen appliance within a few months in 2017 and 2018. Homes that escaped the water kept older, simpler kitchens.
Those rebuild-era refrigerators are now at the age when ice maker valves and defrost drains start to wear. Write down any alarm on the Sub-Zero display before unplugging it, because that message tells us which part to bring.
I-45 and Highway 3 bring us into Dickinson, and most bookings get a next-day window. FM 517 crosses town east to west, and knowing which bank of the bayou you live on lets us choose the right crossing. A photo of the model plate inside the refrigerator, sent when you book, helps us load the right parts.
Homes that took water in 2017 can still have weak outlets or corroded wiring behind the refrigerator cutout. If the Sub-Zero loses power now and then, we test the cord and the unit’s own wiring first. If those check out, an electrician should inspect the outlet and circuit before we replace a control board.
It is worth an inspection. Corrosion from floodwater keeps spreading after a unit dries, especially at the base and the control connections. We open it up and tell you plainly whether it is worth keeping.
Yes. Mention all of them when booking. We look at gaskets, water lines and condensers on each one and price any work separately.
The serial and model numbers from the rating plate, the exact message, and what happened just before it appeared. That lets us bring the likely part on the first visit.
