The IW-30R and IW-18, like other legacy Designer Wine (IW) models, show 10 1 12 when the zone 1 evaporator thermistor is unstable. The coil sensor for zone 1 is sending values that swing faster than the coil could truly change. The control distrusts it, which can throw off defrost timing and cooling in zone 1. Signs include frost that comes and goes on the zone 1 coil and a zone 1 temperature that refuses to hold steady.
1. Note how often 10 1 12 shows and when. 2. Check the zone 1 door gasket. 3. Look for frost patterns through the vents. 4. Reset at the breaker once. 5. Arrange a visit if the code keeps repeating.
Not an emergency, but do not ignore it. An unstable coil sensor can let frost build between defrosts, and that slowly reduces cooling in zone 1.
With unreliable coil readings, defrost may run late one time and early the next. That leaves frost that builds, clears and builds again. Each cycle leaves a little more.
We test the sensor and lead under movement, check for moisture and quote in writing. Approved work carries our 30-day workmanship warranty. Moisture is often the hidden cause.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
