On Sub-Zero 400 Series wine units with the 400-2 control, such as the 430 or 424, EC 15 appears when the unit is not cooling. It points to a cooling problem in the refrigeration side. Diagnosis covers the refrigerant valve, the evaporator fan supply and the valve wiring before the sealed system itself. Owners usually notice warm cabinets, a unit that runs without bringing the temperature down, and EC 15 on the display.
1. Confirm the door is closed and sealing. 2. Clear the grille so the condenser can breathe. 3. Turn the breaker off for a minute, then back on, and watch for an hour. 4. If EC 15 returns or the cabinet stays warm, move valuable bottles and call us.
The control has detected the unit is not cooling. It points to the refrigeration side, so the valve, evaporator fan and wiring are checked before the sealed system.
If the cabinet is warming, move your most valuable bottles somewhere cool. Short delays are usually fine, but extended warm storage is not ideal. Keep the door shut meanwhile.
It depends on whether the valve, fan, wiring or sealed system is involved. We give a written price after diagnosis, and our workmanship carries a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
