Sub-Zero Designer Wine Storage IW units, such as the IW-30 and IW-30CI, display 40-1-00 for a zone 1 stepper current problem. The stepper motor for zone 1 is driven by the control in small steps to manage cooling to that zone, and the board monitors the current it draws. Here that current is outside what it expects. Zone 1 may hold the wrong temperature, and the panel shows 40 1 00.
1. Note the zone 1 temperature compared with your setting. 2. Keep the door closed and avoid adding warm bottles. 3. Reset once at the breaker and see if the code clears. 4. Schedule a repair if 40-1-00 returns. 5. Skip loading new bottles into zone 1 until it is repaired.
It is a small motor the control moves in precise steps to direct cooling to a zone. On these IW units, the control watches its current to make sure it is moving properly.
It may not cool correctly. Depending on where the stepper is parked, zone 1 can run warm or too cold, so keep an eye on the temperature.
We measure the stepper current and wiring, check the board driver, and replace what is out of range. You receive a written price beforehand, and our workmanship carries a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
