Sub-Zero 245 undercounter fridge-freezer with ice maker repair
The 245, which Sub-Zero also writes as 245RFD, is a 200 Series undercounter that combines a refrigerator and a freezer with an automatic ice maker. It is usually fitted under a counter in a bar, a basement kitchen or a butler’s pantry, where it sits in a snug enclosure.
Since it vents out the front through a removable kickplate, anything that blocks that opening hurts cooling. Rugs, stored boxes and years of dust are common culprits, so we pull the kickplate and clean the condenser before anything else. After that we examine the evaporator fan, the control setting and the ice maker.
OEM parts are generally still available to order for this discontinued model, though they come in more slowly than current-model parts. Our price is written before the work begins, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows.
A tight enclosure plus a blocked kickplate grille is the usual reason. We clean the condenser, check the fan and test temperature in both compartments, then explain findings and the price in writing.
Sub-Zero writes the model both ways for the 200 Series undercounter refrigerator/freezer. We confirm the exact unit from the data plate before ordering any part for it.
Parts are generally still available to order, but older items arrive more slowly than current-model parts. We tell you the likely wait in your estimate before you approve it.
