On IW-24, IW-30 and similar Designer Wine (IW) units, 10 2 10 reports that the zone 2 evaporator thermistor is open. This sensor is clipped to the zone 2 cooling coil, and open means the control sees no circuit at all. Without it, the control cannot judge coil temperature or time defrost for zone 2. Frost may build on the zone 2 coil, airflow may weaken, and zone 2 may slowly warm.
1. Look for frost behind the zone 2 rear panel vents. 2. Do not scrape or chip at ice. 3. Make sure the door seals so moist air stays out. 4. Restart power at the breaker after a minute. 5. If frost grows or 10 2 10 returns, schedule service.
The control uses the coil reading to decide when to defrost. With the sensor open, it cannot tell when the coil has iced, so frost builds until airflow drops.
No. 10 2 00 is the zone 2 cabinet air sensor. 10 2 10 is the zone 2 evaporator sensor on the coil. They are different sensors in different places.
Usually, once any ice is melted. We trace the circuit, replace what failed and quote in writing first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty. Expect a few hours on site.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
