Sub-Zero 427R combination wine and refrigerator drawer repair
The 427R mixes wine and food storage in one cabinet: two wine zones on top and refrigerator drawers underneath. That layout makes it popular in kitchen islands and wet bars where space is tight. It belongs to the 400 Series, which has been discontinued.
The drawers hold food, so keep a thermometer in that section and aim for 40°F or lower, the FDA’s recommended maximum for refrigerated food. If the drawer will not close flush, the cold air spills out and that zone warms up quickly.
We look at the drawer slides and gasket first, then the door seal for the wine zones, then each zone against a separate thermometer. Pricing is given in writing before we start, and the work comes with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Those drawers hold food, so they should stay at 40°F or below. Put a thermometer inside and check it for a day. If it reads higher, call us, because spoiled food is a bigger risk than a warm wine zone.
After years of use the drawer often shifts out of square on its slides, so it cannot press against the gasket. We realign it, check the gasket and test the zone temperature afterward.
Not usually. Zone problems tend to trace back to a leaking seal or a control issue. We narrow it down first and give you a written price before any repair.
