On a BW-30 or UW-24/S wine storage unit, EC-08 (shown as EC 08) tells you the lower evaporator thermistor read open or shorted for 10 seconds or longer, or kept giving inconsistent temperatures. That sensor sits at the lower cooling coil and helps time defrost for the lower zone. If its reading is lost, frost can build on the lower coil and the zone may cool poorly. Watch for ice on the lower back panel or water on the floor of the cabinet.
1. Look for frost on the lower rear panel. 2. Check the lower door gasket for gaps. 3. Wipe any water from the cabinet floor. 4. Reset at the breaker once. 5. If EC 08 returns or frost grows, book service.
EC 07 is the lower cabinet air sensor. EC 08 is the lower evaporator sensor on the coil. EC 08 is more often tied to frost buildup.
If defrost is mistimed, frost melts all at once and can overflow the drain path. The sensor is the first thing we check with this code.
We offer three-hour arrival windows and give a written price before work begins. Same-week appointments are common for wine units, and we can usually bring the coil sensor with us if you share the model number when booking.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
